Overview

EyesProtector (the “App”) is an eye-strain habit coach and near-work glasses workflow companion for Mac, iPhone, and iPad. It helps you keep look-away breaks during work hours, optionally supports dual-pair commute prompts, and may let you log subjective strain scores.

The App is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional eye care.

This Privacy Policy explains who we are, what information we process, how optional iCloud sync and paid features relate to privacy, and your choices. We designed the App to minimize collection: the core habit loop works on-device without creating an account with us.

Who We Are

The data controller for the App is dasky92, an individual developer based in the People’s Republic of China.

For privacy-related questions or requests, contact us using the details in Contact Us below.

Scope

This policy applies to users of the App worldwide, except where local law requires otherwise.

The App is intended for Apple App Store distribution under a Health & Fitness / habit positioning. Age rating is subject to Apple’s review (we expect a general audience rating such as 4+, not a children’s-directed product).

Information We Process

We minimize collection. Depending on how you use the App, the following may apply.

1. On-device use (default; no account with us)

When you use the App without enabling sync, the following typically remain on your device and are not uploaded to servers we operate (we do not run a custom account backend):

  • Look-away schedules, work hours, pause / off-work / mute-for-today state
  • Pairing plan (single-pair vs dual-pair) and related reminder preferences
  • Smart Pause preferences (for example Focus toggle, frontmost-app list on Mac)
  • Symptom / strain diary entries (scores and optional notes) and look-away adherence history
  • Appearance and other local settings

Uninstalling the App usually removes on-device App data, subject to how your operating system manages storage.

2. Optional iCloud sync (off unless you turn it on)

If you enable iCloud Sync in the App:

  • Selected settings, reminder-related state, symptom diary, and related habit data may sync across devices signed into the same Apple ID using Apple iCloud (for example Apple’s Key-Value / iCloud-backed sync mechanisms used by the App).
  • Sync is provided and hosted by Apple. We do not operate a separate cloud database of your diary on our own servers, and we cannot log into your iCloud account to read your synced contents.
  • Turning sync off in the App stops new sync from the App’s side; a local copy typically remains on the device. Copies already stored in iCloud are governed by Apple’s iCloud retention and deletion controls (System Settings / Settings → [your name] → iCloud, and Apple’s help articles).
  • iCloud availability, quotas, and regional features are determined by Apple and your Apple ID / storefront.

See Apple’s Privacy Policy and iCloud terms for Apple’s processing.

3. Permissions and system features you grant

With your permission (or as exposed by the OS), the App may use:

  • Notifications — to deliver look-away or related habit prompts
  • Focus Status (where available) — so Smart Pause can shelve reminders while Focus is on
  • Frontmost application information on Mac — only to match apps you added to the Smart Pause list (for example meeting apps)

You can revoke these in system settings. Denying permission may limit related features; the rest of the App can still work.

4. Technical network connections

The App or your device may connect to the internet without you typing personal information into a form we host, for example:

  • Checking for or downloading updates through the Apple App Store
  • Completing In-App Purchases / subscriptions (if offered) via Apple
  • Fetching publicly hosted legal documents (such as this policy) from GitHub Pages
  • Communicating with Apple iCloud when sync is enabled

We do not use these connections to build advertising profiles about you.

5. Information you voluntarily send us

If you email us or open a GitHub Issue, we receive only what you choose to include (for example email address, message text, device details, screenshots). GitHub Issues are public—do not post sensitive personal or health details there.

6. What we do not do

  • No phone number / WeChat / social login required for the core loop
  • No camera-based face or attention detection
  • No third-party advertising or analytics SDKs integrated by us for cross-app tracking (as of this version)
  • We do not sell your personal information

Purchases, subscriptions, and Apple billing

If the App Store listing offers a paid capability (for example multi-device iCloud sync as a subscription or one-time In-App Purchase):

  • Apple processes payment, receipts, and refunds under Apple’s terms. We do not receive your full payment card number.
  • Apple may share limited purchase/entitlement signals with the App (for example whether a subscription is active) so we can unlock the paid feature.
  • Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings; refunds follow Apple’s process and applicable law.

Free core features (look-away rhythm and shelving, pairing plan, local diary) are intended to work without purchasing sync. Exact SKUs and pricing appear on the App Store product page and may vary by country or region.

How We Use Information

  • On-device data — to provide reminders, habit review, Smart Pause, and settings you configure
  • iCloud sync (if enabled) — to keep the data you choose to sync consistent across your devices
  • Purchase entitlements — to unlock paid features you bought
  • Voluntary correspondence — to respond, troubleshoot, and improve the App

We do not use your data for third-party advertising or sell it.

Data Storage and Retention

  • Local App data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App
  • iCloud copies (if any) are retained under Apple’s iCloud rules until you delete them via Apple controls or your Apple account lifecycle
  • Correspondence you send us is kept only as long as needed to handle your request and maintain reasonable support records, unless a longer period is required by law

Third-Party Services

  • Apple App Store / Apple ID / In-App PurchaseApple Privacy Policy
  • Apple iCloud — when sync is enabled; Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy disclosures apply
  • GitHub Pages — hosts public legal/marketing pages; downloads of those pages do not send us your diary
  • GitHub — if you use Issues: GitHub Privacy Statement

International Data Transfers

We are based in the People’s Republic of China. If you contact us from outside China, information you provide may be processed in China and in countries where our email or GitHub providers operate. • Revoke notification / Focus permissions
  • Delete the App
  • Manage purchases in Apple ID settings

The App is not directed primarily at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App’s normal on-device use.

Please do not allow children to contact us by email or GitHub Issues without a parent or guardian’s permission. If you believe a child provided us personal information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
